The research group for Geomicrobiology at the Institute for Geosciences at the University of Tuebingen is looking for a PhD “Arsenic in drinking water and rice paddysoil redox transformation by reactive iron minerals”.
Duration: 3 Years
Arsenic represents a major threat for millions of people all over the world due to its presence in drinking water and rice. Mobilization of arsenic in groundwater aquifers and rice paddy soil is responsible for increased arsenic concentrations. Since the two most important As species in the environment, As(III) and As(V), differ with regard to toxicity and mobility, understanding As redox changes in these systems is important.
