PhD Programme Dublin City University 2008

This structured PhD programme, funded by HRB, is now recruiting its second intake of Scholars. The programme brings together the complementary skills of researchers from RCSI, Beaumont Hospital and Dublin City University in the themed area of Diagnostics and Therapeutics for Human Disease.

This 4-year PhD scholars programme features

•       Relevant taught modules
•       10-week laboratory rotations in the first year
•       Choice of PhD project from an extensive range during first year
•       Opportunities for multidisciplinary ‘bench to bedside’ research
•       Supervision by internationally renowned Principal Investigators
•       Placements in industry or a prestigious overseas laboratory
•       Professional skills training allowance
•       Travel awards to international conferences
•       An annual stipend of €18,000 plus laptop computer plus fees

This programme provides excellent training for scholars in core research skills focusing on delivering diagnostics and therapeutics for human disease. Project opportunities are available in the following areas:

•       Respiratory Disease and Innate Immunity
•       Neuro/psychiatric Disorders
•       Molecular Endocrinology and Cancer
•       Cardiovascular Disease
•       Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine
•       Structure Based Drug Design
•       Biomedical Diagnostics
