PhD Scholarship-Applied Developmental Psychology in New Zealand, 2015-2016

Victoria University of Wellington is awarding PhD scholarship for New Zealand and overseas students in Applied Developmental Psychology. The successful applicant will have an undergraduate or Master’s-level qualification majoring in psychology. The scholarship will provide a stipend of NZ$25,000 per annum and meet the costs of tuition fees for three years. The application deadline is 30 April, 2015.

Eligibility: The successful applicant will have an undergraduate or Master’s-level qualification majoring in psychology. As the successful recipient will be working with children, a clean police record will also be required. Applications are welcome from New Zealand and overseas students. Students whose first language is not English should ensure prior to applying that they have met Victoria University of Wellington’s English language requirements, as listed below:
-TOEFL 575 with (preferably) a TWE of 5, or 237 on the computer-based test; or 90 on the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing; or
-IELTS overall band of 6.5, no sub-score below 6; or
-CAE grade B; or
-a minimum of two ratings of 5 and two ratings of 4 in the Victoria University English Proficiency Programme test.

Scholarship Open for International Students: New Zealand and overseas students can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: This scholarship has been established to support the Marsden funded research project of Dr Deirdre Brown “Developmental reversals in children’s false memories for experienced events”. The project will examine whether developmental changes in memory errors found with laboratory-based (eg word list) recall tasks occur in the same way when children recall an experienced event. The successful candidate will be expected to develop their own complementary research focus within the context of the larger research program.

Number of award(s): Only one scholarship is available.

Duration of award(s): Scholarship is to be awarded for the duration of three years.

What does it cover? The scholarship will provide a stipend of NZ$25,000 per annum and meet the costs of tuition fees for three years. The recipient will be responsible for paying the student levy and for international insurance, if applicable.
