Course Level: Fellowship is provided for the PhD program at the University of Oslo.

Scholarship Award: includes

  • Salary based on salary grade 50-57 (NOK 430 500 – 483 700 per annum). Allocated pay grade is normally 50 on appointment (depending on competence).

Eligibility: Looking for qualified and highly motivated candidates with the following requirements:

  • A master’s degree or equivalent in psychology, or a cand. Psychol. degree, qualifying for admission to the PhD programme at the Department of Psychology.
  • Applicants with grade points A or B on the ECTS scale will be qualified for admission to the PhD programme.
  • Excellent written or spoken English language skills.

Nationality: Norwegian and foreign applicants can apply for the fellowship.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have a master’s degree or equivalent in psychology, or a cand. Psychol. degree, qualifying for admission to the PhD programme at the Department of Psychology.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirements: A good command of English is required for all students attending the University of Oslo. International students; PhD research fellows and post-doctoral research fellows who are not native speakers of English, must document their proficiency in English by taking one of the following internationally recognised tests.

  • TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
  • IELTS – International English Language Testing Service
  • Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) from the University of Cambridge
  • Applicants to the program for the PhD degree in Science must obtain a minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based) on the TOEFL test or a minimum score of 6.5 on the  IELTS (academic) test. The same applies to applicants for postdoctoral research fellow positions.

  • A research proposal stating the research background, rationale, and the major aims of the PhD study (max 4 pages).
  • CV (summarising education, positions, and academic work).
  • Copies of educational certificates.
  • List of publications and academic work that the applicant wishes to be considered by the evaluation committee. If publications are available, please attach PDF versions and descriptions of your contributions to them.
