One research scholarship is available to support a PhD student to work on a project in Geotechnical Engineering area. The project is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) and lasts 3 years. The scholarship will provide a stipend of A$ 25,392 per annum (in 2014). Tuition waiver will be nominated. Exceptional candidate has the chance to be awarded an extra amount of allowance in appreciation of his (or her) high quality research outcomes.

Eligibility: Strong computation/numerical skills are required to develop and run compute program and produce simulation results. Strong analytical (mathematical) background is expected to establish governing equations of the material. Previous experience in geotechnical tests is a plus.

Scholarship Description: One research scholarship is immediately available to support a PhD student to work on a project in Geotechnical Engineering area. The project is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) and lasts 3 years. The scholarship will provide a stipend of A$ 25,392 per annum (in 2014). Tuition waiver will be nominated. Exceptional candidate has the chance to be awarded an extra amount of allowance in appreciation of his (or her) high quality research outcomes. The project will involve measuring and modelling geomechanical response of soil-tyre mixture. Research will lead to the development of constitutive model of the mixture, the micro- and macro-observation of mechanical response of the mixture, as well as the establishment of finite and discrete element model for the mixture.
