PhD Scholarship in Organic Synthesis of New Photoactive Materials for Organic Solar Cells, Denmark
A PhD scholarship in synthesis and characterization of new materials are available in the project “ Organic-based photovoltaic cells with morphology control” supported by the Danish National Research Foundation (Grundforskningsfonden).
The project:
The challenge is to design and synthesize new printable polymer/inorganic materials for organic solar cells. This entails the preparation of novel conjugated polymers that can be used in conjunction with inorganic nano-structured materials. Improved coverage of the solar spectrum and carrier transport properties are important goals to improve the solar cell efficiency and stability. An important aspect/challenge are to develop new materials that can be used in large modules that are prepared by multi-layer printing techniques.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in chemistry, materials science, organic chemistry, engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree in engineering
- Experience with experimental techniques: organic synthesis, NMR, spectroscopy etc. are desirable
- Ability to work as a part of a large, interdisciplinary dynamical group
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
Salary and appointment terms:
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years. Employment will be as soon as possible. The place of work os the Solar Energy Programme, Risø DTU in Roskilde. Main supervisor is Senior Researcher Mikkel Jørgensen and co-supervisors are Dr. Eva Bundgaard and Professor Frederik Krebs.
