PhD scholarship in RF IC design

Description : The PhD stipend is available within the general study programme “Wireless Communications” at Aalborg University in Denmark.

This PhD project is part of a large project supported by the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation, Agilent, and Infineon Technologies. The overall scope of the project is the wireless LTE and LTE-Advanced systems. This particular PhD project focuses on switching power amplifiers for LTE and LTE-Advanced as case study and scientific areas covering some of:

• High efficiency PAs
• Robust designs
• Driver stage design techniques
• Wide bandwidth techniques

The work will involve theoretical, simulation and experimental parts and will be done in a close cooperation with the participating companies. The experimental part will involve design of the PA parts in a suitable IC process, which has not yet been selected. There will be access to all suitable software tools and measurement facilities (probe station, load-pull, X-parameters, vector generators and analyzers etc.).

Professor Torben Larsen will be the supervisor of the PhD project (tl@es.aau.dk).
