Project Title: Gallipoli Centenary Research Project (MQRES)

A PhD project is being offered in the Department of Modern History, Politics, International Relations and Security as part of the Gallipoli Centenary Research Project. The aim of the Gallipoli Centenary Project is to make a comprehensive study of the Ottoman Turkish operations during the Gallipoli Campaign and assess how this impacted on the outcomes of the campaign. The project has been accumulating documents from Turkish archival sources and translating them into English as a data base since 2007. The PhD candidate will be expected to substantially utilise this documentary database in the preparation of the thesis. Knowledge of Ottoman Turkish an advantage but not essential. An abstract outline of your proposal for a PhD thesis should accompany your application.

For further information and discussion regarding this project, candidates are encouraged to contact: Harvey Broadbent; email: harvey.broadbent@mq.edu.au or telephone: +61 2 9850 8860.

The 2010 MQRES full-time stipend rate is $22,500 pa tax exempt for 3.5 years.

Refer to: http://www.hdr.mq.edu.au/information_about/applications for further application instructions. Macquarie University will advise the successful applicant of entitlements at the time of scholarship offer.
