The PhD candidate will be based at the Centre for Innovation and Structural Change (CISC), J.E. roject Abstract
Public investment in partnership and cooperative industrial relations remains high on the agenda in both the Republic of Ireland and the UK. However, the current regulatory drive for employee voice may fundamentally alter the voluntarist nature of employment relations in both Ireland and the UK. This research aims to examine the impact and transposition of employee information and consultation regulations in two jurisdictions, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The research will examine this through case studies of cross-border multi-site organisations in different economic sectors. The results will inform academic knowledge in the areas of employment relations and labour market growth models. It will examine the nature and impact of European labour market regulation for employee voice in a comparative context on each side of the Irish border. The findings will provide data on the unexplored phenomenon of cross-border responses to employment regulations, and in so doing make a contribution to the effectiveness, convergence and/or divergence of European level employment regulations.
PhD Stipend: €16,000, in addition to fees and travel expenses.
