The position is part of an international research project aiming at increasing the fundamental knowledge of wood fibres and their behaviour as reinforcements in composite materials. The position involves several of the following tasks:

  • Characterisation of wood fibre structure
  • Prediction of mechanical and hygroscopic properties of wood fibres and composites by micromechanical models
  • Advanced testing (e.g., single fibre fragmentation test and mechanical testing in scanning electron microscope) Qualifications

    The applicant is required to have a M. Sc. degree (or an equivalent degree) within the topics of materials science and modelling of materials properties, preferable in the field of composite materials. You are expected to be good in written and oral scientific communication in English and to have experience within several of the following topics:

  • Mechanical testing
  • Hygroscopic testing
  • Micromechanical modelling
  • Scanning electron microscopy Terms of employment

    The terms of employment will be in accordance with those of the scientific staff at universities. The Ph.D. grant is limited to three years.
