PhD scholarships in Globalization – Climate Research
PhD scholarships in Globalization – Climate Research
The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for two PhD scholarships (3+5 fellowship or 4+4 scholarship) in social science based climate research. Positions are available from 1 May 2008 (or soon thereafter).
The PhD projects must form part of joint research between the School of Law, the Department of Law and the Department of Political Science at the University of Aarhus. The successful candidates must show an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and must demonstrate ability to cooperate with senior faculty and each other.
One of the scholarships will primarily be rooted in judicial research theory and method. The project must focus on the judicial sources governing the conditions for the global climate regime at international, EU and national level. At the international level, the impact of the WTO agreements must be included as a main parameter. The importance of the judicial sources in relation to the framing of the quota and credit markets must be a core issue.
The other PhD project will primarily be based on political science theory and methods. The research project must focus on the importance of lobbying in relation to political contents and specific rules and regulations for quota and credit trading.
The two PhD students will be enrolled in the new PhD specialization in Social Sciences, which was introduced at the Faculty of Social Sciences during the spring of 2007. The specialization embraces interdisciplinary PhD research fields in the social science disciplines.
Applications will be assessed by the PhD Specialization Committee on Social Sciences (please refer to the rule set of the Graduate School of Social Sciences
, chapter 1.3.3.). Initially, applications will be assessed and applicants will be considered for admission to the above mentioned interdisciplinary specialization in Social Sciences. Favourably assessed applications will then be evaluated by a committee consisting of members of research groups affiliated to the involved institutions.
Interested candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
