PhD Scholarships in Health Systems Research for Africa
Connecting Health Research in Africa and Ireland Consortium
We are offering PhD scholarships in health systems / services research, funded by Irish Aid through the Higher Education Authority. PhD training is one component of a Partnership Programme of health research capacity strengthening involving three Irish and seven Africa-based Higher Education Institutes. The Irish partners who are responsible for the training, which will be delivered in Ireland, are: the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG).
The goal of the Partnership:
To build health research capacity in Ireland and Africa so as to conduct research that strengthens health systems in Africa to serve the poor more effectively.
PhD Scholarships will include:
- Relevant taught modules in the first year of study in Ireland
- Guidance in developing a research topic
- Supervision by internationally renowned principal investigators
- PhD fees paid for up to four years plus laptop computer
- Annual stipends to support living expenses in Ireland and Africa
- Support to undertake field work in an African country, including travel costs to and from Ireland.
