Deadline for application: Thursday 27 November 2008 at 12.00 hours.

In 2007 the Faculty of Health Sciences was awarded funds from the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation, which has resulted in a new co-financed PhD scholarships with a duration of 3 years. The project have already been approved as a PhD Study.

The positions starts in January (or maybe end of December) if possible or soon hereafter.

The deadline for application is 27 November 2008 at 12:00 hours.

Hi,
I am Josephat Sahani Kaboya, aged 38 years old, a Tanzanian Research Scientist working with National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in my country.

The Organization is mandated to carry out, promote, coordinate, ,supervise, evaluate and document Human African Trypanosomiasis and other health research activities in Tanzania, also control and monitoring all aspects of Sleeping Sickness in the country

I have an advanced Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences and specialized in Parasitology and Medical Entomology, studied at the Muhimbili University of Health Sciences (1999 - 2001)

I have been working with NIMR since 1993 to date (an experience of 15 years now)

Through my experiences, I am sure to do better if I will be awarded a chance to pursue further studies.

On completion of that study, I will be enhanced with necessary skills and knowledge for combating many challenges in my country and the World at large.

I am a male Tanzanian holder of MA in Development Studies major in population, poverty and social development and minor in Human Rights a degree that awarded from the Institute of social studies (ISS) in the Hague the Netherlands. In addition i have BA (Geography and Environment studies) (Hons) a degree that pursued from the university of Dar es Salaam Tanzania. I undertook also a diploma in education for a period of two years at Tabora Teachers College (TTC).

I am currently a lecturer at the Mwalimu nyerere memorial academy former kivukoni college in Dar es salaam Tanzania. I am now eargerly to pursue my PhD in social sciences field. I hold a Master of Science in Microbiology from Kenyatta University and currently working as medical microbiologist with KEMRI. I have interest in Pharmacognosy and have developed a number of curative Phytomedicines formulations that are used by many patients in Kenya and some parts of east Africa.
