PhD Scholarships UTS & Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, Australia

PhD scholarships available, joint UTS & Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs $32Kpa tax free: UTS, in a partnership with Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, has recently won an ARC Linkage Grant to investigate the reliable delivery of next generation telecommunication networks and services. We are therefore looking for two people interested in industrial research problems and gaining a PhD to join the team.

Each successful applicant will receive a three year PhD scholarship worth approximately $32,000 per annum tax free. Travel funding to local and overseas conferences will also be available. Furthermore, if you develop any technologies or methods that are later commercialised by Alcatel-Lucent you may be eligible for a share of the profits.

The ideal applicant will:

Have industrial experience and experience at dealing with industrial problems. This does not have to be in telecommunications;
Have experience in conducting research (preferred);
Be self motivated; and
Excellent written and spoken English.

The awarding of the PhD position and scholarship are dependent on the applicant being admitted into UTS as a PhD student. Details on the requirements and rules for admission can be found on the UTS Graduate School website (http://www.gradschool.uts.edu.au/). In addition to UTS’ requirements the grant stipulates that PhD students on the project must be Australian citizens. We are unable to accept international students.
