PhD Student in Neuroscience (Ophthalmic Research) (Tübingen
A PhD student position in Neuroscience is offered for the investigation of chromatic signal processing in the mammalian retina (for details see www.fg-retina.uni-oldenburg.de/en/18947.html). Our approach employs optical, electrophysiological as well as anatomical techniques to investigate the functional properties of retinal neurons and the connectivity of the microcircuits they are embedded in.
We offer well equipped physiology setups and a stimulating interdisciplinary scientific environment (for details see also www.cin.uni-tuebingen.de). Highly motivated candidates, with a sound background in electrophysiology (patch-clamp recordings), basic programming skills and experience with modern light microscopy techniques (confocal and/or two-photon microscopy) are encouraged to apply. Note that applicants require a university degree (Diploma or equivalent M.Sc.).
Funding of the position (salary, meeting participation etc.) is available for three years within the DFG Research Unit “Dynamics and stability of retinal processing” (FOR 701, www.fg-retina.uni-oldenburg.de/en/), which also provides opportunities for meeting other retinal neuroscientists in established collaborations.
