As the leading research center in Europe in the field of environmental health (the connecting discipline between biomedicine and environmental research), scientists in the Helmholtz Center Munich analyse fundamental processes of disease development, and the damage to, as well as the defence and compensatory mechanisms of, organisms.

The Helmholtz Center Munich is a national research center of the Federal Government and the State of Bavaria with its headquarters in Neuherberg to the north of Munich, and is a member of the Helmholtz Association, the largest public research organisation in Germany.

The institute of Human Genetics is working on the identification of genetic dispositions for rare and common disorders and the characterization of functional consequences of mutations and variations. Techniques for large-scale analysis of genetic variation and function are available at the institute.

- degree in Biology or Biochemistry
- strong background in genetics
- experiences in laboratory techniques
