PhD Student Position in Telecommunication Systems
The Department of Electronics, Computer and Software systems at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) seeks applicants for a graduate student position in the area of Telecommunication Systems. The studies are initially directed towards the degree of Tekn. Lic. with the intention to continue towards Tekn.Dr. (Ph.D).
The student will initially perform her/his studies in the context of the EU FEDERICA project, which started 2008-01-01 with the objective to create a European-wide technology-agnostic infrastructure made of Gigabit circuits, transmission equipment and computing nodes capable of virtualization, and which will be used for experimental activities on new Internet architectures and protocols.
The overall aim of the position is to conduct studies on virtual network architectures, with particular focus on network control and the virtualization of network elements.
Qualifications
A master or equivalent degree in computer engineering/science with a strong communication/networking and computer and network security architecture profile is required. Since much of our work requires implementation as well as theoretical studies, our ideal candidate would have a strong programming background. Knowledge and experience with computer architectures, especially for network systems and distributed systems, are desired.
A working knowledge of English is required, but knowledge of Swedish is not a prerequisite. Since much of our work is performed in collaboration with other Euopean partners, some fluency in French, Italian, Polish or Spanish would be beneficial but not a requirement.
