PhD student position in Theoretical Physics, Condensed Matter Theory
April 15, 2009PhD student position in Theoretical Physics, Condensed Matter Theory
PhD student position in Theoretical Physics, Condensed Matter Theory – especially strong correlated systems at the Department of Physics. Reference number SU402 33-0041-09. Deadline for application: 4 May 2009.
The first two years you are financed by study grants and then you will get a doctoral position.
Qualification requirements
To be accepted as a Ph.D. student in physics one should have studied at least four year at a University and have a Bc.S. in Physics. One must also within the previous studies have advanced courses in physics during one year and have done a degree project (a detailed description of one in progress may do). Applicants to a position in Chemical Physics may instead of course in physics have courses in chemistry, fully or partly.
Application
Clearly give the reference number SU402 33-0041-09 on your application. The application should include a letter of intent describing your motivation for applying, a curriculum vitae, extracts of undergraduate studies including grades and specific courses, copy of undergraduate thesis, two letters of recommendation and other relevant material for our selection process.
For more information about the research etc. within the Ph.D position see the link http://kof.physto.se/research.php.

Sir,
i am doing PhD in physics at tamilnadu, India. I am in need of grant for doing my research work. So kindly mention the available scolarships in india.
Thankyou
I have a BA degree in English, I have another BA degree in Management, and I have masters’ degree in curriculum, all from Addis Ababa University of Ethiopia. If I get full scholarship I want to study your offer
I am BSc. student now and will gratuate 2 month later in solid state physics from Tabriz university of Iran and intrested in continue my education in abroad.would you please help me?
Hi, I am finishing my master course of physics and I’d like to attend a PhD program. I wondered if someone could help me to know how to qualify to be accepted in a program and I wanted to know how my average will affect on my application. Is it important to have just high grades or research works are counted more than high grades? I have a published paper but my average is not so good!
Thanks
I am a graduate student from Nepal. I have completed Master Degree in physics from Tribhuvan University, Kathamandu, Nepal. I have keen interest in the Computational/Theoretical physics and condensed matter physics. I have done research on the topic “First-principles study of equilibrium configuration of Benzene and substituted benzenes” using Gaussian 98 set of programs in my master degree in physics. In my research, I have investigated the equilibrium configuration and electronic properties of benzene and its derivatives using first principles Hartree-Fock (HF), M?ller-Plesset (MP) Perturbation theory, Configuration Interaction (CI) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods. The results of my research were an improvement over other similar methods, for example MINDO/3 method. I have also done project work on the topic “Fabrication of mini size UHF pest repeller” in my bachelor degree study. I have strong motivation and commitment to complete my higher studies in physics. Due to poor economical condition I can’t afford the cost of my study at all from my side so I need some kinds of scholarship or study grants.
Sincerely yours

I am a graduate student from Addis Ababa university. I have completed Master Degree in physics from Addis Abab university. l. I have a greate interest in Laser physics and also Atmospheric physics and Fuild dynamics. I have done research on the topic “Determination of viscosity of fuid” In my research, I have derived new formula for viscosity calculation and also I have done experiment to determine viscosity of oil and water by using the formula. The result was satesfactory. I have applied for PhD at Addis Ababa university last yoer but because luck of sponsorship my appliction is rejected. I need some kinds of scholarship or sponsorship.
