PhD-Student Position in Theoretical Studies of Grapheme Based Nanoelectromechanical Systems, Sweden
Job Description:The position is placed at the division of condensed matter theory at the department of Applied Physics at Chalmers University of Technology. The group consists presently of four senior researchers, five graduate students and one post-doc.The successful applicant will be working with applied and fundamental studies of nanoelectromechanical systems and devices made from suspended graphene membranes. The work is theoretical and will be carried out using a combination of analytical and numerical methods.
The project will partly be done within the framework of a larger European research projects directed towards the realization of RF-applications for use in the mobile telecommunication industry and studies of fundamental aspects of graphene NEMS. The latter work includes for instance nonlinear dynamics in the quantum limit where a classical description of the motion is not applicable. With several European experimentally oriented research groups participating in the projects, as well as one major industrial partner, the theoretical effort can be directly related to experimental work.
The position includes teaching and departmental duties up to 20% of the time.
Required qualifications
A suitable background for the position is a M. Sc. Degree in Physics or a related field.
