Applicants must have a strong background in mathematical statistics, engineering mathematics, engineering physics or related fields. You must have obtained a master’s degree or a 4-year bachelor’s degree, or expect to complete that degree within a few months. Good skills in computer programming and an interest in biological applications is of preference. You should include all relevant work such as bachelor’s or master’s thesis (or outline of a thesis under preparation) and articles (provide an English summary if necessary) that you have authored or co-authored

Scholarship Description: The Department of Mathematical Sciences pursues internationally successful research and an extensive education. Researchers in applied mathematics and statistics at the department are important co-operational partners in other disciplines as well as in industrial projects. Mathematics is fundamental to science and engineering and has an increasingly prominent part in other disciplines as well. Mathematics is also a subject in itself, and fundamental research is a necessary condition for future applications.
