PhD Studentships in Statistical Science at University College London, UK and A*STAR, Singapore

Applications are invited for a PhD studentship offered jointly by the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, UCL and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. Two fully-funded PhD studentships are offered and cover tuition fees plus a maintenance stipend. The studentship will be 3.5 years in duration, with year 1 spent at UCL, years 2 and 3 at A*STAR and a final writing-up period of 6 months at UCL.

Eligibility: The minimum requirement for admission to the MPhil / PhD in Statistical Science is a 1st class or high upper 2nd class BSc degree or an MSc with merit or distinction in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline. Overseas qualifications of an equivalent standard are also invited.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: EU students are eligible for this studentship.

Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for a PhD studentship offered jointly by the Faculty of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, UCL and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. Applicants with an interest in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: spatial models, random fields, statistical machine learning, computer vision and image analysis.

Number of award (s): Two fully-funded PhD studentships are available.

Duration of award(s): The two funded joint PhD studentship will be 3.5 years in duration.

What does it cover? Both studentships may only be awarded to applicants liable to pay tuition fees at the UK/EU rate (i.e. it cannot be used to part-cover overseas tuition fees).

How to Apply: Applicants should apply for the Research Degree: Statistical Science (RRDSTASING01) in the usual way by completing the online form and in addition, send a covering letter/email directly to the Department. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the studentship is filled. Candidates are therefore encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The first studentship must start in April 2014 and has a closing date of 28th February; the second one must start Sept. 2014 and has a closing date of 31st March.
