Job Description: Cranfield University has an exciting research opportunity for a motivated graduate to undertake a project which aims to examine the biological removal of hazardous substances in wastewater treatment including Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDCs).
The underlying principle of the PhD programme is to examine wastewater treatment strategies that enhance the removal of EDCs and priority substances by heterotrophic organisms which could potentially reduce reliance on tertiary treatment processes which have a significant environmental and operational cost.
The PhD is sponsored by the five leading UK water companies and is concurrent with the National Environment Agency and UKWIR Chemical Investigations Programme (CIP) into the management and control of Priority Substances to provide a clearer understanding of their occurrence, concentration and behaviour in wastewater treatment.

The successful candidate will be based within Cranfield’s internationally recognised Centre for Water Science.
Technical Schools Research Students Training Programme

The successful candidate will attend Cranfield University’s ‘Technical Schools Research Students Training Programme’ which is designed to equip students with research skills required during their research studies and in their future careers.
