Queensland University, the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management is offering Top-Up scholarship. This scholarship is open for Australian students in Australia. Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD degree level. Applicants will work on the project  characterising the relationships between social equity and conservation success, and incorporate social equity into spatial conservation planning. Applicant should have a 1st class Honours degree (or equivalent) in the field of economics, social sciences or related discipline. Applicant will receive a top-up scholarship to the value of $7,000 per annum for up to 3 years. The application deadline is 25th August 2014.

Eligibility: The successful candidate will have a 1st class Honours degree (or equivalent) in the field of economics, social sciences, or related discipline, with a strong interest in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services. Experience with social science survey design, GIS, conservation planning, and/or quantitative skills are a plus.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Australian students can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Description: This PhD project will work on characterising the relationships between social equity and conservation success, and incorporate social equity into spatial conservation planning so that we can more accurately identify triple bottom line solutions to conserve biodiversity. The studentship will be located at The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus within the Landscape Ecology and Conservation Group (LECG), with a multi-disciplinary advisory team, including Dr. Carissa Klein, Dr. James Watson, and Dr. Ben Halpern (University of California, Santa Barbara).
