Position available for Master/Diplomathesis

May 31, 2008

We are looking for an enthusiastic student of biology, chemistry or biochemistry with basic experience in experimental techniques of molecular biology, cell culture, cloning and microscopy.
The project is integrated in the ENDOSYS network of HepatoSys and focuses on the development of novel tools for live cell imaging in primary hepatocytes to monitor TGF-beta mediated signal transduction. Identification of key regulatory events in signal transduction pathways has been done so far by the usage of biochemical compounds blocking protein-protein interactions, by fluorescence based studies or siRNA knock-down, resulting in unphysiological conditions in the cell.
Aim of the proposed project is to develop intracellular antibodies with high specificity, constructed either to inhibit protein-protein interactions or conjugated with fluorophores, enabling visualization of dynamic processes with high resolution microscopy.
