The following positions are currently advertised in the International Max Planck Research School for Science and Technology of Nanostructures for classes starting in October 2009.
Application Deadline is on 9 January 2009. Applications submitted after this date may not be considered in the evaluation process. Some of the positions might still be open, though.
Successful applicants may start their research work at any time after the selection workshop unless stated otherwise in a specific project description.

I want to pursue MSc/PhD in one of the following fields:
•I have great interest in research in the area of Econometrics Statistics (since I have done a research paper on “a comparative simulation study of the heteroscedasticity consistent covariance matrix estimators in the linear regression model”)
•Statistics for Climate Change Policies in Sub-Sahara Africa (Environmental Policies are nowadays facing the new challenge of climate change. On the one hand the implementation of sophisticated environmental statistics for evidence-based policy making remains still unaccomplished in many countries.)
•Economics, Educational Measurement (I have taken different education courses) and Agriculture (since agriculture is the back bone of our country, the status of our economy, food security and demography variables i.e fertility, migration and death/ mortality depend on agriculture because of this, there are different issues/ problems that open to research/invite researchers).

I am looking for a scholarship in applied entomology in areas of chemical and molecular ecology so as to understand interactions among pest (e.g.s/cane soft scale), natural enemies and host plant interactions. These will definitely help in formulating environment-friendly and sustainable insect pest management strategies for the control of major insect pests of sugar cane in Mauritius.
