Post-Doc French Brittany – Tracer transfer and interaction in agricultural catchment

Description : Within the framework of the national research agency, the Acassya project aims at modeling various types of agricultural practice effects on water quality. One of the aspects is related to the evaluation of water transfer mechanisms and water residence time.

The research program is developed in a national research site which is devoted to understanding the response time in agrohydrosystems (http://www.inra.fr/ore_agrhys_eng/). Piezometric monitoring as well as chemical monitoring and dissolved gases analyses are used to investigate water transfer and biogeochemical or chemical erosion processes.
The aim of the post doc is to investigate the chemical data base, especially CFC, SF6 and other dissolved gases which have been monitoring for several years.

The post doc should have skills in groundwater hydrochemistry and hydrology. Use of hydrological models and chemical tracers would be appreciated.
The contract is a ten month post-doc position in the CNRS. It may begin in autumn 2009.

Localisation: Geosciences Rennes laboratory (mixed unit CNRS-University Rennes 1, www.geosciences.univ-rennes1.fr) included in the Caren research federation (www.caren.univ-rennes1.fr). The research project belongs to the ‘Hydrological transfer’ team in the framework of the Acassya project wich is managed by INRA (project manager Laurent Ruiz and Chantal Gascuel).

The transfer team is a physicists and geochemist team which develop groundwater transfer in fractured rock modeling, geochemistry of groundwater (water rock interaction and chemical erosion, biogeochemical processes) and groundwater dating.
