Post-doc position in Bioinformatics

at Department of Botany, plant physiology unit, Stockholm University. Ref.nr 617-1591-08. Deadline for applications: September 1st 2008.

Description:

One post doc position is available in a lab at Stockholm University, Department of Botany. The successful candidate will work in a group working on plant-microbe interactions in the plant physiology unit. The long-term goal of the group is to understand evolution, adaptation and gene regulation in symbiotic cyanobacteria through computational analysis of genomic data, with comparative and functional genomics in focus. Successful candidates should be highly innovative and motivated individuals with strong statistics background, and some programming skills. The ideal applicant would have already had some experience in above-mentioned research areas.

Qualifications:

Preferentially Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related field. In-depth knowledge of methods for bioinformatics, genetics and genomics technologies, functional genomics, computational proteomics and molecular evolution is of interest. Minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral and/or experience in computational biology or bioinformatics research. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
