Post-Doctoral Fellowship

A Post-doctoral Fellowship is available for up to five years on the production and characterization of iron/iron oxide core/shell nanoparticles for magnetic hyperthermia cancer treatment. The position, which starts on September 1st, 2010 or soon thereafter, is funded by the Dartmouth Center for Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence, which supports a large group of researchers working on functionalizing nanoparticles, developing innovative nanoparticle imaging technologies, and utilizing the nanoparticles for in vivo magnetic hyperthermia studies.

The applicant should preferably have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Materials Science and a background in nanoparticle synthesis by chemical means, magnetic property measurements, and microstructural characterization techniques, including experience in transmission electron microscopy. Research Associate B

Join a group developing medical imaging devices based on electrical impedance tomography for use in image-guided prostate biopsy. This position involves implementing high-speed image reconstruction algorithms in electrical impedance tomography. This group member will be directly responsible for developing and programming advanced 3D FEM algorithms directly onto graphical processing unit (GPUs) for real-time imaging. This position will also involve developing fusion algorithms for linking electrical and ultrasound images and analysis of phantom and clinical images for algorithm assessment.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of research methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Exceptional organizational and management skills to plan and organize the research approach and project parameters.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Experience:

Prior research in the following areas is desirable:

  • Large FEM models
  • Efficient solvers for inverse problems
  • GPU programming (CUDA)
  • Image fusion
  • Soft-field tomography
  • C/C++

Minimum Education:

  • MS/PhD degree with a major in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar.
