Call for Positions – Post-Doctoral Grant
In scope of the European Union Project (Project SCOOP)
Research positions are available for a Post-Doctoral Grant in scope of the CRAFT Project, entitle “SCOOP – Sheet Cutting and Process Optimization for Furniture Enterprises”, Contract number COOP-CT-2006-032998-SCOOP, financed by the European Commission, VI Framework Programme on Research, Technological Development and Demonstration, Activity “Specifics SME Activities – Co-operative Research”, under the following conditions:
1. Duration of the grant: up to October 2008; preference for candidates with immediate availability . The activities will be developed in exclusivity, according to the Humans Resources Advanced Training Regulation (Regulamento de Formação Avançada de Recursos Humanos) of the FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology – FCT, Ministry for Science and Technology). 2. Research activities and Scientific Supervision: J.M. Valério de Carvalho / Cláudio Alves
3. Academic habilitations: PhD degree in Computer Science, Informatics or Operations Research (in Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization).
4. Assessment Criteria: a) Previous work in Cutting, Packing and related Problems, and in Scheduling Problems; b) Programming experience in C++; and c) Previous work in exact methods and heuristics;
5. Grant amount: The amount of the grant will be according to the values fixed by the FCT for Research Grants assigned in Portugal: http://www.fct.mctes.pt/pt/apoios/bolsas/valores/
6. Legislation: The research grant will be assigned under the Law nº 40/2004 of 18th, namely “Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”
