Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine
We are offering a post-doctoral research fellowship in a one-year programme in Experimental Stroke Research. The expectation is mainly the design and implementation of projects in the Laboratory of Cerebral Ischaemia. During the tenure in the laboratory, you will pursue ongoing experimental work investigating acute ischaemia in models of focal and global ischaemia. In addition, it is our expectation that you will see a number of projects through to presentation and publication which should lead to applications for further funding.
You will be trained to learn in vivo models of focal and global cerebral ischaemia, and will be part of the Laboratory of Cerebral Ischaemia Team, pursuing ongoing projects in experimental cerebral ischaemia, involving biochemical analysis and MRI. You will carry out general laboratory duties, with shared responsibility for co-ordinating and managing core, centralised lab resources, including stock lab items and equipment and standard operating procedures.
You will have a PhD or similar degree in biology, biochemistry, neuroscience or a related subject. Alternatively you will be a clinician and will have an MD. Experience with in vivo experiments and a strong background in methods of biochemistry is also required. The post is available for one year in the first instance.
