Job Description: Peroxisomal and mitochondrial dysfunctions are often associated with neurological and developmental defects. As both organelles are indispensable for human health and development, there is currently great interest in the identification and functional characterization of novel disease-related peroxisomal and mitochondrial proteins.

For the identification and characterization of novel, potentially disease-related peroxisomal and mitochondrial proteins, we currently seek an experienced and highly motivated post-doctoral candidate, who will combine fungal genetics with cell and molecular biology in mammalian cells. Successful candidates will join the “Organelle Biogenesis and Disease” Group at the Centre for Cell Biology & Dept. of Biology at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, which is located in the heart of the Ria de Aveiro, one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes in Europe.
