Job Summary: Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Hawaii Cyberinfrastructure team, located at the University of Hawaii in Hilo, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, and availability of funds.

Duties: Collaborate in the design, development and implementation of a geospatial research program supporting a range of ecosystem and conservation themes. Research and develop methods to integrate distributed data sets, sensor data, provide for data distribution via the Internet and support high levels of interaction with a broad range of users. Integrate, map and disseminate environmental data by displaying research results via web-based mapping services. Work with partners to collaborate on research projects, coordinate interoperability with legacy and future applications and maintain compliance with existing and proposed information standards. Participate at workshops and meetings and deliver presentations.
Primary Qualifications: EDUCATION: PhD from an accredited college or university in geography, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Geosciences, Computer Science or related field. EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of experience in the following essential areas: utilizing geospatial technologies for ecosystem research, expertise in managing geospatial datasets, including metadata catalogs and data discovery, spatial analysis, modeling and geo-visualization of research results. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Proficiency in database management, proficiency with ArcGIS server and GIS analysis using ArcGIS software suite (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, Arc Toolbox. Geo-visualization expertise with ecological datasets. Skill in programming (python), GIS customization, multivariate statistics and geostatistics. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Secondary Qualifications: Experience in ecosystem modeling and simulation modeling. Experience with sensor systems deployment and information retrieval and display. Experience with open source GIS software and web mapping services. Expertise in developing Web 2.0 spatial applications; familiarity with genotype and phylogentic data, Remote sensing software experience.
