Postdoc and PhD positions for research on leukocyte recruitment (Aachen)
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research IZKF “BIOMAT.” & the Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology at the RWTH Aachen University invite applications for
a) 1 postdoc position (TV-L EG 13)
b) 1 PhD studentship (TV-L EG 13/2)
Positions are funded by IZKF “Biomat” and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft for a period of 3 years.
and will start immediately. The project will investigate the mechanisms of leukocyte adhesion and migration in inflamed lung vascular tissue with special focus on the role of transmembrane chemokines and disintegrin-like metalloproteinases (for review see Thromb Haemost. 2007 97:694 and Semin Cell Dev Biol. 2008 Sep 18). The techniques to be employed include molecular design and characterization of protein mutants, flow adhesion experiments with cultured cells and animal models of lung inflammation. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with PhD degree and a PhD student with master/diploma degree in biology, biochemistry or related life sciences. A strong background in cellular and molecular biology or detailed experience in animal studies would be advantageous. The project is funded for 3 years and is part of an established interdisciplinary research group at the Institute for Pharmacology and Toxicology (Director Prof. S. Uhlig).
