Postdoc in Innate Immunology, Denmark
Postdoctoral Fellowship at Department of Cardio-vascular and Renal Research, Institute of Molecular Medicine.The position is to be filled from October 1, 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Job Description: The main research area of the department is within innate immune regulation. The successful candidate will be a part of multidisciplinary project group, and is expected to perform both in vitro and in vivo experimental work in particular within mouse models of infectious disease and inflammatory bowel disease. The overall aim of the study is to provide insight into the functional role of the putative pattern recognition receptor FIBCD1 with chitin selectivity. The candidate will explore how chitin mediated FIBCD1 signalling may shape innate immune and adaptive responses in vitro and in vivo and the role of FIBCD1 in homeostasis of gut epithelium and lung repair after injury and in allergic disease. The candidate is expected to take part in suggesting and pursuing new project ideas as well as challenge on-going projects while constantly updating the knowledge within the relevant scientific area.
The candidate will be expected to be an excellent communicator who will contribute to the educational programs of the department. The main teaching commitment is in biochemistry and immunology.
Expectations of qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent in biological sciences, and demonstrated relevant research through publications. Applicants with research interests that complement the ongoing research in the department will be preferred. The ability to attract extramural funding is preferred.
Appointment as postdoc requires research and teaching qualifications corresponding to the level that can be achieved by a successfully accomplished appointment as PhD student, although it may be obtained otherwise.
Appointees as postdocs are presumed to have a documented scientific production (at PhD level) as well as documented teaching qualifications.
