Post Doc in Microbial Molecular Ecology
Description : The major project ACE-SAP (Activity 2 - WP1) requires culturing under controlled conditions and the genetic characterisation of cyanobacteria, aimed towards the study of adaptative traits related to cellular floating. Tasks: Sampling of cyanobacterial isolates from a set of different lakes. Isolating and maintaining cultures under controlled conditions. Genetic characterisation of isolates by rRNA sequencing, phylogenetical reconstruction, fingerprinting (anonymous multilocus markers). Amplification and sequencing of genes coding for the proteic structures building the gas vesicles responsible for cyanobacterial cellular floating. Characterisation of intra- ed inter-isolate genetic variability by sequence analysis and estimation population genetics parameters, such as nucleotide diversity and Watterson Index. Possible functional and transcriptional characterisation of the identified allelic combinations, in relation to selected adaptive traits.
