Postdoc in Neurobiology, Leipzig, Germany: The Interdisciplinary Centre for Clinical Research (IZKF) at the University of Leipzig invites applications in the Independent Research Group “Neural plasticity” for the position of

to be funded for a period up to March 31st 2011, according to E13 TV-L Ost level.

The Centre is part of an interactive science network which includes the Biomedical-Biotechnological Centre (BBZ), the Coordination Centre for Clinical Studies (KKS) Leipzig, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Bioinformatics (IZBI), three Max-Planck-Institutes, the Environmental Research Centre Halle-Leipzig and the Bio-City Leipzig, which hosts life science start-ups.

The independent research group “Neural Plasticity” investigates the contributions of glial cells to brain function with the focus on metabolic and structural interactions of glial cells and neurons using modern imaging technology (2-photon-imaging) as well as biochemical, molecular biology and transgenic tools. We are a young and dedicated team and hope for a fruitful collaboration with a highly motivated scientist preferably with a background in imaging (confocal and / or 2-photon laser scanning microscopy). Previous experience in neurobiology as well as in neuron-glia interaction would be appreciated. Our laboratory is located at the core building of the IZKF with excellent infrastructure. In addition, close contact exists to the Paul-Flechsig-Institute for Brain Research.
