Postdoc Position Cancer Biology Austria
A PostDoc position is available in the group of Maria Sibilia (Reserach Unit Tumorbiology) at the Institute for Cancer Research to study the role of inflammatory cells in tumor development.
The major focus of the Sibilia laboratory is to understand the molecular pathways leading to tumor development using the mouse as a model system. Tumor-cell intrinsic mechanisms are being investigated at the molecular level by analysing how signalling via the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR), a receptor tyrosine kinase frequently amplified and overexpressed in human tumors, affects the development of epithelial and glial cells and tumors. Moreover, the lab is also studying tumor cell extrinsic mechanisms and particularly focusing on the role played by various innate immune cells (e.g. DCs) in host defence and tumor immunity or tolerance. The ultimate goal is to translate this knowledge to human patients to develop rational and effective therapies for the treatment of human cancer.
Applicants interested in this position need a PhD in genetics, Molecular Biology, Molecular Medicine or a related field. Only candidates with a strong background in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology will be considered. Salary is according to FWF standards and the position is available as soon as possible.
