PostDoc Position Hyperspectral Land Cover Mapping

July 24, 2008

PostDoc Hyperspectral Land Cover Mapping

Applications are invited for an Experienced Researcher (ER) position, within the framework of the European Marie Curie Research and Training Network HYPER-I-NET. The HYPER-I-NET network comprises 15 scientific partners in 10 European countries.

Within Hyper-I-Net ESRs (Early Stage Researchers of PhDs) and ERs (Experienced Researchers or PostDocs) are working towards an integrated approach for imaging spectrometer data exploitation, including sensor design and applications. Recent advances in assessing hyperspectral data processing and information extraction show that there is room for improvements to current land cover mapping procedures by jointly exploiting spatial and spectral information.

Focus of this position is on implementing and optimizing a processing chain for land cover mapping using hyperspectral data. The work is embedded in the Hyper-I-Net team, and contributions to project deliverables as well as to the coaching of PhDs (organizing a summer school, supervision of PhD students, etc.) is expected.
