Postdoctoral Fellow in Fish Immunology at Department of Biology , University of Bergen, NORWAY
April 25, 2008
Postdoctor
At the Department of Biology there is a vacant position as Postdoctoral Fellow in the Fish Immunology Group within the project “Studies of salmon phagocytic cells - key cells in cellular immune responses. Transcriptional analyses and functional characterisation”. The position is financed by the Research Council of Norway.
The postdoctoral position is a temporary appointment, the chief objective being to qualify the selected candidate for work in senior positions in their disciplines. The term of employment for this position is three years.
It is not possible for any person to work under more than one temporary appointment for the same institution.
The primary focus of the project is, using functional genomics, to study the relationship between well-known immunostimulants, activation and function of Atlantic salmon phagocytic cells. Identified immune response patterns, at both gene and functional level in central immune cells, can be implemented to imprint and measure protective immune responses to bacterial and viral antigens and responses to immunostimulants. The project has national and international collaborators. Preference will be given to candidates who have used relevant techniques to address the project activities, and who can work well in a collaborative team.
