Postdoctoral Fellow in Natural Product Chemistry/Chemical Ecology

A three year fixed-term position of Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) in natural product chemistry/chemical ecology is available from July 2009. The position is funded by a multidisciplinary Australian Research Council Linkage grant.
The position is a joint appointment between the School of Biology and the Research School of Chemistry. The new Postdoctoral fellow will join a multidisciplinary team to conduct high quality research on the natural product chemistry and the chemical ecology of obligate orchid-wasp pollinator interactions including the development of synthetic methods for the preparation of novel organic volatile compounds.
Experience in GC-MS analysis and interpretation, NMR and other analytical procedures for natural product identification and in the development of synthetic methods is essential. Experience with plant volatiles and GC-EAD is highly desirable.
An excellent record of publication in the field of natural product chemistry and/or chemical ecology and demonstrated willingness to work as a team and to co-supervise research students is essential.

I did my Ph.D in natural product chemistry, specially flavonoid chemistry from Iwate University of Japan. During the PhD work, several polyphenols have been isolated, characterised and their physiological activities have also been explored in vitro as wel as invivo.
