Postdoctoral Fellow Position 2008 New Zealand
Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate in the Human Interface Technology Laboratory New Zealand (HIT Lab NZ) to conduct research in the field of accessible Augmented Reality (AR). This full-time, fixed term position is funded for a 12 month period. A review of research outcomes and the availability of funding will be conducted following the initial 12 month period. The Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate will focus on development of new model-based tracking techniques for AR applications and research in natural feature tracking.
The successful applicant will have completed a Ph.D. degree in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent for the postdoctoral position. Applicants nearing completion of their Ph.D. in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, will also be considered in the capacity of a Research Associate.
The successful applicant will also have experience in the following areas:
*Computer vision, including knowledge of monocular marker-based tracking, stereo tracking, edge-based methods, template matching, tracking by detection, etc
*Ability to programme in C/C++
*Desktop PC development
*Image processing algorithms.
In addition, it would be desirable for the appointee to have experience in one or more of the following: 3D computer graphics (OpenGL); Augmented Reality and mobile phone programming (Symbian or Windows Mobile).
The appointee will work with the largest AR research team in the Southern Hemisphere, and will collaborate with the 40 staff and students of the HIT Lab NZ. In addition, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with leading international visiting researchers, and present their work at national and international conferences.
