24 Postdoctoral Fellowships for International Applicants to Study in Switzerland, 2017

École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne is inviting applications for 24 postdoctoral fellowships of a maximum duration of 24 months. EPFL fellowships are available for international applicants in all disciplines that are covered by the research of the EPFL host professors.

The École Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne is a research institute/university in Lausanne, Switzerland, that specializes in physical sciences and engineering.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree from a recognized university, plan to obtain a Ph.D. degree by the time of employment, or have at least four (4) years of full-time equivalent research experience.

Study Subject: EPFL Fellows fellowships are available for researchers in all disciplines that are covered by the research of the EPFL host professors. EPFL has five Schools and two Colleges:

  • Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Basic Sciences
  • Computer and Communication Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Life Sciences
  • College of Management of Technology
  • College of Humanities

Scholarship Award: 24 fellowships of a maximum duration of 24 months each year/call. The EPFL Fellows fellowship consists of a monthly contribution of 2’625 Euro to the salary of the post-doc at EPFL. The remaining part of the salary is provided by the hosting Professor. It is, therefore, important that the research plan is developed in cooperation with the Principal Investigator at EPFL.

Scholarship can be taken in Switzerland

Eligibility: Applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria

  • Citizens of any nationality may apply.
  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree from a recognized university, plan to obtain a Ph.D. degree by the time of employment, or have at least four (4) years of full-time equivalent research experience.
  • Applicants must fulfill the transnational mobility rules: Incoming applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the three (3) years immediately prior to the deadline for the submission of proposals and Re-integration applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the three (3) years immediately prior to the deadline for the submission of proposals, and show at least two (2) years’ of experience in research at the postdoctoral level in any other country, by the time they submit the application.
  • Applicants must have arranged in advance a research plan with a host laboratory at the EPFL.
There are no restrictions concerning the age, gender or nationality of the candidates. Candidates with career breaks or variations in the chronological sequence of their career steps are welcome to apply.

Nationality: Citizens of any nationality can apply for these EPFL Fellowships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree from a recognized university, plan to obtain a Ph.D. degree by the time of employment, or have at least four (4) years of full-time equivalent research experience.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.
