Job Description: A 3-year postdoctoral position in genomics of probiotic bacteria will be open in 2011 in the context of a collaboration between the Centre for Integrative Biology (CIBIO) at the University of Trento (Italy) and the Probiogenomics lab at the Department of Genetics, Biology of Microorganisms, Anthropology, University of Parma (Italy).
The project is aimed to characterize the genomic determinants responsible of health promoting activities carried out by probiotic microorganisms, in particular those associated with the colonization of the infant intestine.
Main project steps include:
-genome sequencing of probiotic bacteria;
-functional genomics of probiotic bacteria through whole transcriptional profiling analyses;
-In vivo experiments using human cell lines and animal models.
Applicants must have a PhD and at least one year of postdoctoral experience with training in molecular biology / microbiology and/or bioinformatics. Experience in genomics/postgenomics analyses is desired. Applicants should submit a CV, a list of publications, a brief statement of research interests.
