Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Modeling of Surface Reactions, Sweden
Job Description:A post-doc position (1+1 years) is available at the Department of Applied Physics at Chalmers University of Technology within the area of theoretical modeling of surface reactions. The work is a part of a larger experimental and theoretical effort to use solar energy for conversion of water into hydrogen and CO2 into C1 compounds – methane and methanol.
The position is placed at the Competence Centre for Catalysis (KCK) at Chalmers. KCK is since 1996 a successful research centre within heterogeneous catalysis.
The theoretical work will be focused on first principles (atomistic) studies of relevant surface reactions on different types of oxides. Results from the first principles work will be used to construct Monte-Carlo and Mean-field models.
Required qualifications
The candidate should have a PhD degree in computational physics or chemistry and be familiar with density functional theory calculations. The candidate should, moreover, be able to work independently and have good skills in communicating scientific results in written and spoken English.
