2 positions are available at the Institute of Pharmacology to study (1) the pharmacology and pathophysiological role of the nicotinic acid receptor and related G-protein coupled receptors and (2) to  analyze the role of G-protein-mediated signalling pathways in vascular physiology and pathology. We seek enthusiastic, highly motivated postdocs and PhD students, who will join our research group working on novel strategies to characterize G-protein coupled receptors and signalling pathways involved in the regulation of cardiovascular and metabolic functions. Techniques include siRNA screens, generation of constitutive and conditional mouse mutants, BAC trangenics in mice, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, histology, molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopy. The working atmosphere is international.

Applicants should have good basic skills in in molecular biology, knowledge of mouse physiology and experience with genetically modified mice is highly appreciated.

The positions will be available immediately. The group is currently located at the Institute of Pharmacology at the University of Heidelberg and will move in summer 2009 to the Department of Pharmacology at the Max-Planck-Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim close to Frankfurt.
