Fellowship for PhD Students in Epidemiology and Biostatistics Subjects
Job Description: Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position at Yale University to work on an NIH-funded research project investigating how exposure to ambient air pollution during pregnancy affects risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes (e.g., birth weight, pre-term delivery). The postdoctoral appointment will be joint between the School of Public Health and the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Research will include statistical analysis of data on pregnancies, weather, and air pollution, and may involve application of alternate exposure methods, such as land-use regression modeling or satellite imagery.
Applicants should have knowledge of epidemiology and biostatistics and must have a Ph.D. in ab related field (e.g., Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences). Applicants should have experience with statistical analysis of large datasets for epidemiological studies. Experience with air pollution, pregnancy outcomes, and/or exposure estimation is preferred. Knowledge of R or SAS is required; knowledge of both is preferred. Written and verbal fluency in English is required. Applicants should have the ability to work independently and in group settings.
The postdoctoral fellow will be co-advised by Dr. Michelle Bell and Dr. Kathleen Belanger. The position is for initially for one year, with the possibility of extension to an additional year upon mutual agreement. The start date is flexible and could be Fall 2010.
