We invite applications from highly qualified candidates (PhD of equivalent) with knowledge of organic materials chemistry; experience in working with liquid chrystals and/or optical systems would be of advantage. Good communicative skills in English, both orally and in writing are required.

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: The goal of the down converter is to collect photons from 1100-1520 nm. These will be down-converted to photons at 1540 nm, to which the solar cell is normally transparent. Using an up-converter, these lower energy 1540 nm photons will be absorbed and used to create photons closer to the band edge of silicon (1100 nm). The Post doc will need to design a selective reflector to maintain the down-converted photons within a waveguide layer and only allow them to escape at location where the up-converter is located.

How to Apply: Online

Scholarship Application Deadline: 03/09/2012
