Eligibility:
The successful candidate will work on the analysis of urban mobility traces. This role requires a strong mathematical background, experience with hands-on development and programming, and familiarity with urban mobility analysis, machine learning, and ubiquitous computing. Understanding of statistics, database programming, and symbolic computation are a benefit. Knowledge of Matlab/R is a plus. You will be expected to develop an analysis system that captures, infers and models individual and group mobility patterns on a city scale.: Must hold a Doctoral degree in a relevant field.

Scholarship Description: The successful candidate will work within the Urban Interactions research program. One of the aims of the program is to analyse the rich mobility traces captured by Oulu’s city-wide WiFi, Bluetooth and traffic infrastructure to understand better city-scale movement and develop ubiquitous computing applications.The University of Oulu is an international research and innovation university engaged in multidisciplinary basic research and academic education. The University of Oulu is one of the largest universities in Finland with 16000 students and 3000 staff. The University encompasses eight fields of study: Humanities, Education, Economics and Business, Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, and Technology. The fields of information technology, biotechnology, northern and environmental issues have been defined as special research focus areas.

Duration: 6 months, but may be extended.

Salary: 3200-3600 euros per month (before tax) depending on the qualifications.
