The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization is offering postdoctoral fellowships which are open to candidates from any country. These are intended for early career scientists wishing to complete their training in those aspects of cancer research related to the Agency’s mission.

Eligibility:
- The IARC is intended for early career scientists wishing to complete their training in those aspects of cancer research related to the Agency’s mission. Disciplines covered are epidemiology (all disciplines included), biostatistics, bioinformatics, and areas related to, mechanisms of carcinogenesis including molecular and cell biology, molecular genetics, epigenetics, and molecular pathology. Interdisciplinary project is encouraged. Fellowships are tenable at IARC in Lyon, France working in a research Group. Applicants are eligible from any country. IARC is particularly keen to promote the development of expertise in cancer research in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by training postdoctoral researchers from these countries who can return to apply their new skills and expertise. Therefore, applications from candidates from low- and middle-income countries or from any part of the world but with projects related to low- and middle-income countries are encouraged.
- Candidates are required to have obtained their doctoral degree in the five years preceding the closing date for applications.
- Candidates in the final year of their Ph.D. studies are eligible to apply but must have been awarded their degree by the time of starting their Fellowship (30 November of the Selection year at the latest). The working languages at IARC are English and French. Candidates must be proficient in English at a level sufficient for scientific communication.
- Candidates attached to commercial entities or who have an association with the tobacco industry are not eligible.
- Candidates currently working as IARC-funded postdoctoral scientists, or candidates who have worked at the Agency as a postdoc for a period greater than six months, cannot be considered.
Nationality: IARC Postdoctoral programs are open to candidates from any country. However, priority is given to candidates from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), or to candidates from other countries with projects of relevance to LMICs.

- College Admission Requirement Entrance Requirement: Candidates with a MD are eligible to apply.

- Scholarship Award: The annual stipend is currently 33,000 Euros and will be paid monthly in advance. Stipends are not considered as a substitute for any salary paid to a Fellow at home.
