The Kiel Institute for the World Economy is one of the leading and most reputed economic research institutes in Germany. It is associated with the University of Kiel (the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel), the Leibniz Community and the largest library for economic sciences in the world (the Zentralbibliothek für Wirtschaftswissenschaften).
The Kiel Institute invites applications for positions of
Postdoctoral Researchers and PhD-students
specialised in environmental or resource economics or a related discipline for a new research group within the Cluster of Excellence The Future Ocean.
The economic and human welfare implications of future ocean change are the focus of the newly established junior research group investigating economic aspects of the role of the oceans in global carbon management. Research on adjunct fields includes ocean acidification, sea level rise and eutrophication.
The successful postdoctoral candidate has a PhD (or is close to finishing) in a discipline relevant to the project and has experience in at least one of the following areas:
- climate policy analysis
- impact assessment of environmental change
- integrated assessment modelling
- mathematical programming
The successful PhD-student has a master’s degree in economics, environmental and resource economics or a related discipline.
The positions are research positions and need not involve teaching. The positions are initially for two years but may subsequently be extended. The salary depends on the qualification of the candidate and is determined according to the German public sector salary scheme (up-to EG 14 TV-L). Knowledge of German is not required but would be advantageous.
